Terrible old ideas that have been forgotten, or were never known, for a generation and seen as new and exciting by young, often affluent activists. Meanwhile, the one group you can be certain despises socialism is made up of everyone who has ever lived under it.

Socialists always try to refute the law of supply and demand with their own power-grabbing laws and supply and demand keeps refuting them instead. It’s almost as if they don’t care about actually helping the people they say they want to help.

Much written on this, including by Hayek, who makes the point that socialists win over intellectuals and public opinion by boldly promising utopia. Practical people know utopia isn't possible, and so lose the battle of public opinion, which intellectuals enjoy winning.

Indeed. The history of tech impact on labor is well-documented, including by those named. It's unpredictable, but usually improves productivity and leads to expansion. Law & white-collar workers aren't horse-buggy drivers or elevator operators. They will use AI and adapt.

Socialism is like polio, it comes back when people forget about the horrible damage it did last time.
